Therapy for Therapists

Therapy for Therapists

GSRD therapy group for therapists

(gender, sexual and relationship diverse)

“We can’t be brave in this big world without at least one small space to work through our fears and falls.”

unknown

Many therapists no longer require individual therapy but may benefit from a therapeutic group experience with other therapists who understand the specific challenges of this shared career and what it means to be vulnerable and open with others in a supportive and challenging group environment.

This group welcomes therapists with diverse gender, sexuality and relationship experiences and identities — particularly those who experience marginalisation for living outside of social norms. Counselling training and therapy models can leave LGBTQIA therapists isolated and silenced. This GSRD group for therapists is a deliberate step towards inclusion and community within a therapeutic context. The focus in the group will be wide-reaching, diversity in all its richness celebrated. There is an invitation to create a safe enough group with others to benefit from two hours spent together fortnightly in a beautiful and cosy environment.

In-person Therapy Group in my home practice in Dalston E8.

Fortnightly for two hours on Wednesday 10am – 1pm.

The group has three terms a year. People can stay in the therapy group for years or leave after a term.

There are a maximum of 6 people in a group.

  • "I feel less alone as I listen to other people sharing similar experiences - different from individual therapy where you don’t have that sharing of experiences, that reciprocity."

  • "Group therapy members help me ‘see’ things differently which is so valuable."

  • "when I speak in group therapy the intensity of being listened to by multiple others can increase the significance of what I am saying and suddenly feel more emotionally powerful and important."

The group experience

It can be daunting to face a room of strangers all meeting with the intention of being open and available to consider how it is to relate and be related to. People with some shared experiences and some disparate ones. It takes courage and willingness to be outside of familiar comfort zones to take part in group therapy. It is this willingness to go beyond what is familiar that can yield such positive results.

Contact me so we can meet in person or over zoom and determine if this particular group would be suitable for you.

If it is and with your permission, I would then share your name with the group so that any possible dual relationship (client/therapist, supervisee/supervisor, colleague, ex-lover, friend) can be avoided.

Therapy Group for Therapists - Dates
